Four Healthy Alternatives For Breakfast

If you're on a mission to lose weight, it's vital that you're taking the time to get in your morning meal.  Those who are not consuming a well planned breakfast are going to be heading into their day low on energy levels and will be far more likely to binge on foods they shouldn't come lunch time.

Ideally you want to get a mix of both protein and carbohydrates in the breakfast meal, and then possibly add some healthy fats if your calorie intake can accommodate it.  This is what will ensure that come 11 am, you're not inching towards the vending machine for a quick snack to tide you over until noon.

Let's have a look at four healthy swaps that you can make at your current breakfast meal for faster weight loss progress.

Swap: Cold Cereal For Oatmeal The very first swap that will go a long way towards helping you see better weight loss is changing your standard bowl of cold cereal for some oatmeal instead.  Oatmeal is way lower in sugar content and provides a nice dose of fiber, while most cereals on the market are higher in sugar and don't really offer a great deal of nutrition.

You'll find that oatmeal leaves you feeling much fuller as well, therefore you're less likely to require that mid-morning snack to power you through until lunch.

Swap: Bacon For Egg Whites Another important swap that you must make if you want to see good weight loss is exchanging egg whites for bacon.  Bacon is not only very high in overall fat content but it's also loaded with sodium.  When you take in a lot of sodium on your weight loss diet, you're going to wind up bloated and heavier than the day you were before.

Since this is something you obviously want to avoid, be sure that you're keeping that sodium content much lower.  Egg whites are a great source of protein that work nicely with any breakfast you're preparing.

Swap: Banana For Berries Another quick swap is to trade in your banana for some berries instead.  While bananas are definitely a fine fruit to be eating, they are on the higher calorie side compared to other fruits.  Plus, berries are filled with antioxidants which promote overall good health, so by making this quick change, you'll see better overall results.

The berries will be lower in calories and higher in nutrition.

Swap: Juice For Milk Another quick swap to consider making for weight loss purposes is changing your juice for milk instead. Juice is very high in simple sugars and calories and doesn't offer any protein at all.

Instead, go for a glass of milk.  At 10 grams of protein per serving, this is a much smarter pick.

So be sure you're keeping these points in mind as you plan out your breakfast.  With a few simple adjustments, you'll be right on track to making the most out of your weight loss diet.
